The perfumer has always been fascinated by the stillness of nature and the hues of watercolors, as well as by Ayudthaya, a sacred place in the old capital of Thailand. She used to draw the golden temple, situated in the middle of the Sun Moon Lake, as a symbol of a luminous, guiding spirit amidst life’s uncertainty. She felt that the calm grace of this aromatic floral is itself a source of peace and serenity.
For Le Pavillon d’Or, she used a combination of Mentha Citrata, Fig Leaf, Frankincense, White Thyme oil and Orris Butter to depict the charm and serenity of the Thai Golden Bang Pa-In Palace, blending them with just enough abstraction to resemble an olfactory aquarelle painting. During the whole time she was working on this fragrance, she felt she was under the guidance of that “golden inspiration” herself. It helped her achieve a subtle balance of aromatic, floral and woody notes that she found mystical – and almost sacred."
